Akerselva
Akerselva river in Oslo is well-known as a recreational area due to its long watercourse that runs from Maridalsvannet in Oslomaraka to Paulsenkaien and Oset in Bjørvika. Much of this river is marked by peaceful walkways that are famous for walking tours and bike trips. The total length of this river is approximately 8.2 km, with several lakes and waterfalls throughout its path.
Around fifty bridges are spanning Akerselva, Jerusalem Bridge being the highest. The suspension bridge, Åmot, is another popular spot on this river. The riverside life is versatile, with cosy cafes, restaurants, old industrial buildings, parks, and waterfalls embedded on its path. A trip to Beier Bridge in Sagene will take you to Nedre og Øvre Vøyen Foss, one of the popular waterfalls of Akerselva.
Art lovers visiting Oslo would love taking a walk at Vulkan near Akerselva, where there are many street artwork pieces on the walls of the buildings. Another ways of exploring the river is to book a paddling tour from Mathallen to Grønland, a path that passes a 500-metre tunnel beneath the Central Station of Oslo. During the summers, river jumping is quite famous here amongst swimmers who like to spend a hot afternoon outdoors.
