Initially built for residential purposes, the house was later turned into Stenersen’s enormous art collection venue. The villa is the only member from Norway in the group of Iconic Houses today. Villa Stenersen is operated by the National Gallery of Norway, with some parts of it under restoration.
You can take the metro lines 1, 2, or 3 from Oslo and visit the museum from 12:00 to 4:00 pm on Sundays. When you enter the premises, you will notice the functionalist effects of the different elements in the house. On the way upstairs to the gallery, you can see both glass and brick in the interiors, which was rare in the early 20th century in Norway.
